Husky commit Desmond Simmons can’t wait to be Dawg, but first he has some business to take care of. The 6-foot-7 senior forward is on a mission to lead Salesian High School on back-to-back Division IV State Championship runs. The Pride (32-2) got past Modesto Christian Saturday night 69-65 in a quarterfinal matchup in large part because of Simmons’ 34 points and 20 rebounds. The Pride fought from 13 down at half to pull out the win and advance to the semifinals to take on St. Mary’s.

It would appear mismanagement of television contracts, embarrassing officiating and one of the worst seasons in conference history is starting to wear off on the coaches. How else can you explain Jerome Randle winning Pac-10 player of the year honors?Northwest Sports by Petitt will be hitting the internet radio waves tonight; Sunday, March 7th for a 30 minute test run at 8:00 p.m. PST.
